It’s a great opportunity to get in on the recycling game and save money.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced Tuesday that it will award $5,000 in recycling coupons to people who use Amazon’s marketplace to buy recycled items and return them to the marketplace within 10 days.
The new incentives are meant to encourage recycling of household and commercial items and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by $1 billion over 10 years, the EPA said.
The program will be offered to consumers who recycle household goods and household services, as well as services from businesses.
The EPA is also looking for small businesses to use the program to help reduce waste and to support efforts to recycle the economy.
Amazon has been an active consumer of recycled items.
It has more than 100 million products in its inventory and is one of the largest retailers of recycled household goods.
